New Exhibition at the Jacklin!!

I'm honored to share a new exhibition of work in the Fireside Room at The Jacklin Arts Center, 405 N. William Street in Post Falls. The exhibition is open weekdays 10-5, with free admission. Titled "Looking 'Across the Pond' to Scotland", this exhibition takes the viewer on a visual tour of North Scotland. Works on view give a very personal glimpse into the culture and environment of Scotland's hardy residents and diaspora.
An additional note of good news: my work in subjects relevant to the sea have landed a membership into the stringently juried Ocean Artist Society, based in Irvine, Calif. The Ocean Artist Society was founded by the marine artist Wyland, with the mission of raising awareness in regard to the importance of health and maintenance of the world's oceans and it's inhabitants. I am proud to be associated with the OAS!

Wee Church in Paint

one of This Week's Painting(s). . . .
This is an original miniature oil painting of an old church near the top of Union Street in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Aberdeen Architecture, 4"x6" oil on gallery wrap canvas

I love the juxtaposition of all the angles of perspective in this small space of view!  And the colours of the old granite and roof materials...the Granite City usually appears quite gray, but if one looks closer, there are hints of colour in that rough old stone!

"Aberdeen Architecture"
is a gallery wrap painting, which means the sides, top and bottom are painted also, with no need for a frame.

The Auction Block....

Such a busy summer, and my participation in favourite art fairs and highland games is at an all-time low.  Needs must.  The 'auld wrinklies' require time and attention daily, which doesn't mesh well with 'getting my work to the people.'  Hence a timid adventure into the world of ebay auctions a la Duane Kaiser's Painting A Day

My current hectic schedule barely allows for a half day of painting per week, but that's still something!  So "Standing Stones, Calanais" is up for auction.  Why not throw in a bid just for laughs?
